Take ownership as a Machine Vision Engineer, partnering with end-users to drive real results. Whether working remotely or hands-on at customer sites, you will troubleshoot, optimise, and elevate machine vision systems. You will deliver continuous improvements that boost productivity and quality across cutting-edge Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Medical Device, FMCG, and Food sectors. You will be part of a young small team where we need to quickly adapt to incoming customer requests.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities- System Design & Integration - Design and specify vision solutions (cameras, lighting, optics) for use in automated inspection systems. Work with internal and customer teams to integrate these into broader automation setups.
- On-Site Commissioning - Travel to customer sites to install, calibrate, and validate machine vision systems. Configure software tools (e.g., Cognex, Halcon, Sherlock, Zebra) and troubleshoot image quality or inspection logic.
- Technical Support - Act as the primary technical contact for machine vision issues post-installation. Use software diagnostics, logs, and structured testing to resolve faults efficiently.
- Continuous Improvement & Product Development - Monitor system performance in production and propose algorithm, lighting, or setup changes to improve reliability, reduce false positives/negatives, and increase throughput.
- Documentation & Training - Write clear technical documentation for systems deployed. Deliver basic user training to operators and maintenance staff on how to use and interpret the vision system.
- Collaboration - Work closely with Controls Engineers, Software Developers, and Project Managers to ensure seamless integration into production equipment.
- Deliver machine vision projects from start to finish.
- Technical definition during sales process, providing advice on what system will fit customer request best.
- Offline programming and lab testing. Prepare the vision system in the lab completely simulating the production environment.
- Onsite installation at the customer including the assembly of hardware, setting up system, testing and validating the system, training of operators.
- Providing support during the lifetime of the system including remote support and onsite service.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and drive to adopt new technologies quickly and deliver customer specific projects.
- A broad understanding of the location and purpose of a vision system within a full technical specification.
- Solid understanding of the workflow of vision inspection - (Image Acquisition, Image filtering, Part Location, Data Segmentation/Extraction, Data Processing).
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proven familiarity with tools for company-wide communications such as MS-Word and MS-Excel.
- Essential
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field (or relevant experience).
- Experience with vision algorithm software packages in a development environment.
- Proven ability to develop applications.
- Familiar with industrial networking (network architecture, VPN system, Industrial protocols like Ethernet/IP, profinet, modbus).
- Software management in Git/Related tooling.

- Previous experience in use of any of the following vision software packages: Cognex - Insight Vision, Zebra, MVTec - Halcon.
- Programming experience in C#, C++, JS, or Python.
- Exposure to AI tooling in code development.
- Electrical hardware design and installation.
- Knowledge of a range of techniques within Optics and Lighting to help combat challenges in the inspection process.
- Additionally programming of automation or robotic languages is also a plus.
