Purpose of the Role
Plan and co-ordinate all warehouse activity including overseeing the efficient receipt, documenting, storage and dispatch of components from external sources and distribute them to the appropriate location within Lambert. Responsible for UK shipping of components and parts to customers and suppliers globally.
Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and improve the stock management database system
- Management of stock systems around the factory to support production and facility activities
- Management of Warehouse and Module Kitting facilities
- Management of Secure Store Facilities
- Manage supplier relationships and service levels
- Oversee preparation of shipments for goods from the UK to worldwide
- Management of Shipping utilising Lambert transport and favoured courier services to get best value
- Line management of Warehouse Team
- Leading adherence to company and legal health, safety, and environmental requirement
- Driving visibility through accurate reporting on SLOBS, stock accuracy, and assembly readiness
- Embedding continuous improvement principles within the team
Outputs/ Deliverables
- Manage the Warehouse team resources (including people, facilities and tools) ensuring an appropriate working environment is provided and that relevant tools are available
- Engage, enable and empower the Warehouse team to ensure they are engaged, satisfied and aligned with the vision, mission, value and aims of the business and allow them to develop their skills and contribute towards the continued success of the business.
- Reinforce and embed our internal customer ethos ensuring all work with Lambert colleagues is delivered right first time, on time and in full.
- Ensure the Warehouse team work in compliance with ISO14001, ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 and embed a culture of Lean and Continuous Improvement by complying with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
- Develop, manage and improve the stock management database system by assessing the current system and identifying improvements to both systems and processes.
- Advise on the awarding of, removal of and management of supplier relationships in relation to components and service providers.
- Develop and manage the consignment stocking/managed stock within an ERP system at Lambert.
- Engage internal customers and external suppliers regarding replenishment levels and improvements.
- Manage the daily UK transport requirements for shipping of components to and from Lambert suppliers and customers.
- Plan transport in line with needs of business priorities whilst still working to minimise the environmental impact of our activities through consolidation and choosing the appropriate method of transport.
- Ensure purchasing database and goods received systems are accurate and up to date.
- Ensure Warehouse team are fully trained in the use of the stock management and warehouse systems.
- Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to assist in planning future capacity requirements.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment, for example, ensuring that stock such as chemicals are stored safely.
- Liaise with other managers in the production chain to ensure the management of goods is well co-ordinated.
- Improve communications with other Departments in Lambert such as Purchasing, Accounts and Production.
- Apply continuous improvement principles to the management of the Warehouse Department to ensure clear and accurate records for goods received and goods passed to other Departments.

Knowledge And Experience
- Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and ISO27001
- Experience of working as a Warehouse Manager in an engineering / assembly manufacturing environment
- Understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO18001
- 5S/6S change experience would be an advantage
- Sound understanding of Lean principles advantage
- Knowledge of SOPs and WIs
Technical Skills And Qualifications
- Qualification in Supply Chain Management would be an advantage
- Competent IT skills, particularly MS Office, ERP, MRP or SAP systems
- Proficient in QR/Bar Coding or labelling/identification technology
