Accounts Manager Overview
The Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions. This role manages the accounts team, supports strategic financial planning, and provides key insights to support business decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Monitor cash flow, budgets, and forecasts to ensure financial stability and accuracy.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and bank accounts.
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce timely financial reports and provide detailed variance analysis.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial plans.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support strategic decision‑making.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Manage audits (internal and external) and ensure timely completion.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop members of the accounts team.
- Allocate tasks, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and high‑performing team culture.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with department managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Act as a point of contact for external auditors, banks, and financial partners.
- Provide financial advice and support to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CIMA qualification desirable).
- Proven experience in accounting or finance, ideally in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) and MS Excel.
