MPA Recruitment are partnering with our Global Market Leading Engineering Client to recruit a talented and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client’s team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and development of innovative equipment solutions, working from concept through to production. This role is full time and permanent and is based in Omagh, Co Tyrone. Key Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of engineering projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and specifications.
- Design and develop equipment across mechanical, structural, hydraulic, and electrical/control systems.
- Generate innovative design concepts and practical solutions to engineering challenges.
- Perform and/or guide engineering calculations including load analysis, stress analysis, hydraulic systems, and performance evaluation.
- Produce and interpret engineering drawings in line with industry standards.
- Contribute to material selection decisions based on engineering and cost considerations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, with a strong focus on safe working practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in equipment design and manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of engineering design processes and product development.
- 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- ERP systems (Epicor or Oracle preferred).
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of materials, material properties, and manufacturing processes (cutting, forming, welding).
- Ability to analyse technical data and make sound engineering and financial decisions.
- Experience designing bespoke material handling equipment from concept through to production.
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced engineering environment.
