About the Role: MPA Recruitment, on behalf of the Business Services Organisation (BSO) PaLS, is seeking applications for a Warehouse Operative / Driver (Band 2) to join the Regional Wheelchair Service (RWS) in Lisburn. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with warehouse or manual handling experience who are looking to work in a busy, professional logistics and procurement environment. You will play a vital role in the receipt, decontamination, recycling, and distribution of powered and manual wheelchairs, continence products, and other community equipment, ensuring all stock is handled safely and accurately. You will also drive vehicles to deliver and collect equipment across Northern Ireland, support stock management processes, and contribute to a high standard of customer service for Trust staff and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Operations: Receiving and logging all returned wheelchair and community equipment accurately. Cleaning, decontaminating, and recycling equipment according to MD4/01 Controls Assurance Standard and MHRA guidelines. Dismantling, disposing of, and quality checking equipment to ensure it is suitable for re-issue. Picking, packing, marshalling, and despatching equipment in line with ISO 9001:2000 procedures. Maintaining accurate manual and computerised stock records and reporting discrepancies. Participating in stock counts, rotation, and emergency stock management.
- Driving & Delivery: Driving assigned vehicles safely and legally, delivering and collecting equipment across Northern Ireland. Performing daily vehicle checks, maintenance, and reporting any defects promptly. Assisting clients with loading/unloading equipment and providing courteous service.
- Health & Safety / Compliance: Maintaining clean and safe warehouse and storage areas in line with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations. Following Trust procedures for infection prevention, equipment decontamination, and safe handling. Adhering to all Trust policies, including smoke-free, IT security, and standards of conduct.
- Teamwork & Support: Working closely with the Warehouse Supervisor, Operational Supervisor, and wider PaLS team. Providing support to colleagues in warehouse, workshop, and administrative areas. Participating in team meetings and training to improve warehouse and operational performance.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Criteria: Minimum of three GCSEs or equivalent (Grades A*–C), including English Language and Mathematics. At least 1 year of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or procurement environment. Hold a B driving licence with the ability to drive up to a 3.5-tonne vehicle. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and meet set deadlines. Good communication skills to interact with staff and members of the public.
Desirable: Forklift licence for counterbalance and/or reach truck. Previous experience handling medical devices, powered/manual wheelchairs, or similar equipment.
Additional Information: Enhanced Access NI check not required for this role at this stage. Training will be provided for equipment handling, mechanical aids, and health & safety procedures.
