Band 6 Biomedical Scientist - Haematology
Altnagelvin Hospital | Temporary Block Booking Until December 2026
Rate of Pay: £19.78 - £39.57 per hour, depending on shift pattern and hours worked
We are currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology Laboratory at Altnagelvin Hospital on a temporary block-booking basis until December 2026.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern
- Routine: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
- Extended: Monday-Sunday, 9am-8pm
- Nights: Monday-Sunday, 8pm-9am
Candidates will be required to participate in the above shifts as required, with the role primarily focused on night shifts.
Essential Requirements
- HCPC registered as a Biomedical Scientist
- IBMS Specialist Diploma (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline plus at least 1 year’s post-HCPC registration experience, or Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist experience for 3 of the last 6 years
- Relevant experience in Haematology/Blood Transfusion or the applicable laboratory discipline
- Good Health and Safety awareness and commitment to CPD
- Strong teamwork, communication and reliability
- Willingness to participate in a 24-hour service and travel between sites when required
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car, subject to applicable exemptions
- An Enhanced Access NI disclosure is required for this role.
