Job Summary:
MPA Recruitment are currently seeking a skilled and certifiedCrane Operatorto join a well established construction company in the local area .The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes to lift, move, and position loads as required on site. You will work closely with the lifting team, including Banksmen and Slinger/Signallers, to ensure all lifting operations are conducted in line with safety protocols and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate mobile, tower, or crawler cranes safely and efficiently.
- Inspect crane equipment and complete pre-use checks before operations.
- Follow lift plans and instructions from the appointed person or lift supervisor.
- Work in coordination with the Banksman/Slinger to lift, move, and place loads accurately.
- Monitor crane performance and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain clear communication with the team using radios, signals, or direct verbal instructions.
- Adhere to all site safety protocols, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Keep accurate records of lifting activities if required.
- Assist with minor maintenance or cleaning of crane equipment when needed.
Requirements:
- Valid CPCS / NPORS card or equivalent crane operator certification.
- Proven experience operating cranes in a construction, industrial, or marine environment.
- Understanding of lifting operations, rigging, and slinging techniques.
- Strong awareness of site safety and lifting regulations (e.g. LOLER, PUWER).
- Ability to work under pressure and in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
Preferred Qualifications (Desirable):
- Additional plant or machinery tickets (e.g., telehandler, MEWP).
- First Aid or Health & Safety certifications.
- Familiarity with remote-control crane operation.
