MPA is currently recruiting Care Assistants for our well-established client based in the Coleraine Area. This position will be based in a Residential Home on Scroggy Road. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to act in a professional, proactive capacity to provide a positive living experience for the children and young people resident in the home utilising the framework of the Model of Attachment Practice.
Role Responsibilities
- Become familiar with the Model of Attachment Practice operating in the WHSCT and apply the principles to care practices in respect of the individual child/young person or group.
- Develop caring relationships with children in the Home and ensure that their physical, psychological, social, and emotional needs are met in accordance with Trust Residential Child Care Policy.
- Be sensitive to the needs of individual children/young people, taking account of race, culture, language, and religion.
- Be familiar with Trust policies in all matters concerning the facility and implement such matters including the completion of relevant records.
- Assist the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker in providing a safe, caring and supportive environment for children.
- Monitor the children during the night and aid and support them.
- Assist the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker with bedtime and waking routines.
- Provide support to the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker in preparing suppers, snacks, breakfasts and packed lunches for the children.
- Undertake household duties, which include, but are not limited to, washing up, laundry, ironing duties around the home when the children have gone to bed.
- Contribute to the maintenance of records in respect of individual young people relating to events occurring within the home during the night.
Essential Criteria
- NVQ Level 3- or 6-months experience of working with children / young people age 10 – 18 years in a formal setting.
- A higher qualification, e.g., Degree in Social Work, Teaching, Youth Work.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience of working with children/young people age 10 – 18 years in a formal setting.
- NISCC Registered or willingness to apply.
