MPA Recruitment are working in partnership with their market leading healthcare client Apex Housing to recruit permanent care assistants at Parkview Nursing Home in Castlederg. The vacancies are full time, and the successful candidates must be available to work both day and night shifts. The salary is £25,512 per annum (£13.26 per hour for days and £13.26 per hour for nights plus £15 night shift allowance). This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an extremely well-run healthcare facility in a warm patient-centred care environment.
Job Duties
- Provide safe, effective care with compassion.
- Provide resident-focused care whilst ensuring residents’ dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.
- Work to recognised standards, including RQIA and Apex Policies and Procedures.
- Provide, where appropriate, personal assistance to residents such as bathing, washing, toileting, dressing, feeding etc., whilst ensuring the privacy, dignity and rights of residents are maintained.
- Observe and report to the Nurse Manager/Staff Nurse changes in residents’ health, wellbeing and behaviours.
- Report to the Nurse Manager/Staff Nurse untoward incidents, e.g. falls, accidents, unexplained injuries.
- Report any concerns re possible abuse of service users immediately to the nurse in charge.
- Report to the Nurse Manager/Nurse in Charge any complaints, compliments (written or verbal) and maintain a record of the same.
- Refer all enquiries regarding the care or condition of service users to the nurse in charge.
- Accompany residents on social and recreational outings and other appointments, as required.
- Be available to listen and talk to residents using an approach suitable to their needs.
- Participate in the implementation of group and social therapy e.g. reminiscence, reading, letter-writing and entertainment.
- Assist with the cleaning service within the scheme.
- Ensure that service users are socially presentable in appearance at all times.
- Ensure that service users have any aids e.g. dentures, hearing aids, spectacles etc. fitted, cleaned and in working order.
Essential Criteria
- QCF/NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Must be currently registered with NISCC, or if new to the sector must achieve registration within 6 months.
- A minimum of 6 months experience in a formal setting working in a caring/support role with vulnerable adults (either paid or unpaid).
- Must be willing to work towards completion of QCF Level 2 Health & Social Care.
