About the Role: MPA Recruitment, on behalf of our client, is currently recruiting for an experienced Cook to work across multiple sites within the Belfast and surrounding areas. This role involves working as part of the Support Services team, preparing and serving high-quality meals for patients while ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Trust standards. The successful candidate will be required to travel between sites as part of their duties and work on a rota basis, including weekend shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation & Service: Prepare and cook meals, snacks, and beverages in line with agreed menus and standards. Assist with catering for specific dietary requirements and special functions as required. Ensure meals are prepared and presented to a high standard. Work efficiently to minimise waste and make effective use of resources.
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Maintain high standards of food hygiene in line with regulations and Trust policies. Ensure correct storage, handling, and rotation of food stock. Complete and maintain records including temperature checks, stock control, and meal production records. Keep kitchen and work areas clean, tidy, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Stock & Equipment Management: Assist with ordering, receiving, and checking food supplies. Monitor food quality and stock levels at all times. Report equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly.
- Team Support: Work effectively as part of the catering and support services team. Support staff training and contribute to continuous improvement of catering services where required. Travel between multiple Trust sites as required.
Working Pattern:
- Up to 37.5 hours per week
- Full-time and Part-time shifts available
- Weekend shifts included on a rotational basis
- Flexible working across multiple sites within Belfast and surrounding areas
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Criteria:
- Level 2 Food Safety qualification
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a cooking role
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or institutional catering environment
- Experience working across multiple sites
