On behalf of our Client, MPA Recruitment welcomes suitable applications for the role of Information Communications Technology (ICT) Technician. The post holder will be required to respond to incidents and service requests logged via the BSO ITS Service Desk and offer technical solutions to complex problems across a range of ICT areas. The post holder will ensure that all relevant policies and procedures are followed, and that work is undertaken according to priorities and predetermined standards. The post holder will work as part of the GMS ICT Support team and liaise closely with the GMS ICT Equipment and Services team to ensure the delivery of a high quality and highly effective ICT service to General Practices across Northern Ireland.

Location: Belfast

Salary: £15.88 per hour

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide technical support for ICT hardware, software, peripherals, communication networks, and related systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, service requests, and technical issues, ensuring timely escalation where required.
  • Build strong relationships with assigned GP practices, understanding their ICT requirements and providing expert technical guidance.
  • Conduct site visits across Northern Ireland to install, replace, repair, and collect ICT equipment.
  • Support ICT projects, including requirements gathering, solution selection, procurement, implementation, and service development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate operational documentation and assist with ICT audits, asset management, licensing reviews, and compliance investigations.
  • Liaise with suppliers and third-party service providers to ensure service level agreements are met and value for money is achieved.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, contribute to policy and procedure development, and present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential Criteria:

  • A university degree in a computer science related discipline or equivalent recognised ICT professional qualification plus 1 year relevant experience.
  • An HND in a computer science related discipline and 2 years relevant experience.
  • 4 years relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience is defined as providing or supporting information and communications technology systems in a business environment.
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in providing services to customers using IT service management software.
  • ITIL foundation certificate.
