Information Technology Support Officer
Band: £15.33 per hour
Location: NIAS Trust Headquarters (with travel across NI as required)
Hours: Full-time, Mon – Fri, 9am – 5pm
Contract: Temporary (6 months with the possibility of extension)
About the Role
MPA Recruitment is delighted to partner with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) to recruit an experienced and proactive Information Technology Support Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated IT team supporting a wide range of critical IT systems across NIAS. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical support, maintaining systems, and helping implement ongoing IT developments that directly support frontline emergency services.

Key Responsibilities
- IT Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide 1st and 2nd line end-user support across NIAS
- Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network faults
- Maintain and update the IT Help Desk Management System
- Work collaboratively with third-party suppliers to resolve system or equipment issues
- Systems, Hardware & Software Management
- Support the installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, printers, switches and software applications
- Maintain an accurate hardware/software inventory within the Help Desk system
- Support backup routines, including participation in the tape security rota
- Assist with PC builds, upgrades, testing and repairs
- Development & Improvement
- Participate in the delivery and future development of the NIAS website and intranet
- Assist in assessing requirements for planned IT developments across Trust locations
- Propose improvements to IT policies and procedures within your work area
- Support IT-led projects as directed by the IT Manager
- Operational & Team Responsibilities
- Attend and contribute to team meetings
- Maintain stock control of IT consumables
- Participate in the IT on-call rota
- Ensure all work complies with Trust policies, health & safety, and information governance requirements
Essential Criteria
- A Degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in ICT + 1 year’s experience supporting networked computer systems
- Experience using Microsoft desktop applications & Windows Server 2003
- Experience working with IT Help Desk Management Systems
- Knowledge of intranet/internet technologies and portal systems
- Full UK driving licence and/or access to suitable transport
- Willingness to participate in the IT on-call rota
