MPA Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) to recruit an Asset Governance Officer to join their Fleet & Logistics – Regional Service Support Centre Business Unit. This is a key governance and operational support role, responsible for managing and maintaining NIFRS fleet, operational equipment, specialist PPE and uniform assets throughout their full lifecycle. The postholder will ensure strong compliance, accurate asset records, effective system management and high-quality customer service across the organisation, supporting frontline emergency response delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of fleet, equipment, specialist PPE and uniform assets, ensuring compliance with legislation and governance requirements.
- Maintain and manage the Stock & Asset Management MIS, ensuring accurate asset tracking, reporting and audit readiness.
- Coordinate PPE laundry, maintenance and fitting processes, including arrangements for new operational recruits.
- Manage vehicle compliance including VED, MOT and PSV testing schedules.
- Oversee asset changeovers and vehicle booking systems, ensuring availability and service continuity.
- Manage fuel processing, audits and reporting, resolving queries through the NIFRS helpdesk.
- Produce complex reports and audits for senior management, including asset compliance, lifecycle and KPI monitoring.
- Raise requisitions and purchase orders in line with procurement and financial governance requirements.
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers, managing service delivery, contracts and escalations.
- Act as a subject matter expert for asset governance, providing advice and guidance to managers, officers and stakeholders.
- Support staff training and development and contribute to service improvement initiatives across the Regional Service Support Centre.
What We’re Looking For
- A relevant qualification (Degree, HND or equivalent) or significant experience within a demanding office environment involving asset management and MIS.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict deadlines.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport (or suitable alternative).
