MPA Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Booking Clerk on behalf of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy Patient Access team supporting outpatient clinics, theatre bookings and day surgery services. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing patient bookings, referrals and waiting lists while delivering a professional and patient focused service.

Role Responsibilities

  • Process patient referrals and update hospital systems accurately
  • Manage outpatient, theatre and day surgery bookings
  • Maintain and monitor waiting lists in line with Trust guidelines
  • Contact patients by telephone, text and letter regarding appointments
  • Handle incoming calls and patient queries professionally
  • Liaise with GP practices, hospital departments and support services
  • Update patient demographic details and booking systems
  • Assist with appointment cancellations and rescheduling
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of patient information at all times

Essential Criteria

  • Previous clerical or administrative experience
  • Experience dealing directly with customer or patient queries
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience within a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of PAS or hospital booking systems
  • Understanding of waiting list management processes
