Job Description
MPA Recruitment is currently recruiting a Hostel Assistant on behalf of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) in Antrim.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with customer service, administration or housing support experience who enjoys helping others.
The role involves supporting residents in temporary accommodation, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment and assisting with the daily operation of hostel facilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome residents and assist with registration and enquiries.
- Provide practical support and guidance to residents.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety and security throughout the hostel.
- Complete routine fire safety and health and safety checks.
- Report maintenance issues and follow up on repairs.
- Liaise with Housing Advisors and external support services.
- Maintain accurate records and incident reports.
- Assist with general administration and daily hostel operations.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Level 3 qualification plus 1 year’s relevant customer service or administration experience.
- Five GCSEs or equivalent plus 2 years’ relevant experience.
- 3 years’ experience in a Customer Advisor role with evidence of ongoing workplace learning or training.
Candidates must also demonstrate:
- Experience dealing with the public, including challenging situations.
- Strong communication, organisational and record keeping skills.
- A caring and professional approach with good conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A driving licence or access to suitable transport to meet the requirements of the role.
Desirable: Previous experience in homelessness support, temporary accommodation or social housing.
