About the Role
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Stores & Purchasing Co-ordinator to manage stock, purchasing, and stores operations across both manufacturing and project environments. You will ensure materials, parts, and equipment are bought at the best value, stored correctly, and delivered efficiently to support production and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Purchasing & Stock Control
- Manage daily purchasing in line with company policy
- Source cost-effective materials, parts, and consumables
- Raise purchase orders and track supplier performance
- Maintain stock levels and reordering systems
- Handle goods-in, including damaged or incorrect deliveries
- Issue stock to jobs and manage returns
- Keep accurate stock records and carry out regular stock counts
- Stores Operations
- Keep the stores area clean, safe, and well organised
- Ensure all stock is labelled and easy to access
- Manage PPE stock, including issuing and tracking
- Prepare materials for workshop and project teams
- Stock Accuracy & Audits
- Carry out regular cycle counts
- Lead the annual stocktake and report discrepancies
- Investigate stock issues and implement improvements
- Asset & Equipment Management
- Track tools, equipment, and hired items
- Maintain asset registers and inspection/calibration records
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date
- Systems & Processes
- Maintain and improve the stock management system
- Develop and follow standard procedures
- Provide reports on stock, purchasing, and supplier performance
- Logistics
- Collect items from local suppliers when needed
- Deliver urgent materials to project sites
- Ensure safe transport and handling of goods
- Health & Safety
- Follow company health & safety procedures
- Maintain compliance records (including CE marking where required)
- Ensure safe storage of any hazardous materials
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Experience in stores, stock control, or purchasing
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Experience using stock or ERP systems
- Good IT skills (Microsoft Office)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
- Good numeracy and time management
- Comfortable with physical work in a stores/workshop environment
- Full UK driving licence
- Desirable
- Experience in engineering or manufacturing environments
- Supplier management experience
- Logistics or materials handling experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or 5S
- Experience reducing stock costs
- Forklift licence
