Our client, a highly respected and growing construction and civil engineering contractor, is seeking an ambitious Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their senior commercial team. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will oversee the commercial performance of projects from tender stage through to final account, while leading and developing a high-performing commercial team. The Role As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial management function, ensuring projects are delivered profitably, contractually and efficiently while maintaining the highest professional standards. Key Responsibilities Lead the commercial management of multiple construction and civil engineering projects. Oversee feasibility studies, tender assessments and commercial appraisals. Prepare and review interim valuations, cost reports, cash flow forecasts and reconciliations. Manage variations, compensation events and contractual claims. Negotiate and agree final accounts. Develop project budgets, forecasts and client quotations. Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks. Provide strategic commercial advice to key stakeholders. Lead, mentor and develop members of the commercial team. Drive continuous improvement and commercial best practice across projects. Candidate Profile We are seeking a commercially focused leader with a proven track record in delivering successful project outcomes within a contracting environment. Essential Requirements Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline. Significant experience operating at Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor level. Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills. Thorough understanding of construction contracts and contract law. Experience managing variations, claims, valuations and final accounts. Excellent leadership and team management capabilities. Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Strong IT and commercial software proficiency. Full UK Driving Licence. Right to work in the UK. Civil engineering experience would be highly advantageous.
