Public Relations Executive

Salary: £26,000-£30,000 DOE

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00-17:00

Job Type: Permanent, Fulltime

Location: Hybrid (may require regular travel to BH nurseries and offices). Ideally based near our headquarters in Northampton, Manchester, or Farringdon office in London.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of the company’s PR strategy under the guidance of the PR Manager.
  • Create engaging stories for trade, sector, local and national press using multimedia platforms to showcase activities and drive brand narrative.
  • Develop both proactive and reactive messaging, coordinating with Content and Communications, Marketing, Social Media teams and nursery operations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists to secure coverage across local, trade and online media.
  • Proactively research media opportunities and identify newsjacking opportunities aligned with key messaging.
  • Produce monthly reports detailing the success and impact of PR activity.
  • Ensure all content reflects the appropriate brand tone of voice.
  • Research and collate information from colleagues to produce relevant, timely releases.
  • Understand what stories appeal to journalists and create frameworks to maximise coverage.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written communication skills and storytelling ability, evidenced by a portfolio of work.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders and delivering under pressure with flexible deadlines.
  • Prior experience communicating directly and confidently with journalists.
  • Relevant degree/qualification or at least two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to use data, AI and numeric detail to inform strategy, measure impact and drive quality; previous use of Gaggle, Meltwater or Sprinklr is desirable.
  • Flexible to travel to attend meetings and visit nurseries.
