Role Overview
As an Early Years Assistant, you will work as part of a team to look after babies and children up to the age of five. You will engage children in interactive play, activities, reading, and encourage their curious minds, supporting colleagues with each child’s development towards their key milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of daily learning activities for children aged 0–5
- Provide a safe, nurturing environment for all children
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and monitor children’s progress
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about children’s development
- Assist with meal times, diaper changes, and other child‑care duties
- Adhere to all safeguarding and health & safety procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working with children ideal but not essential – Nursery Bank Staff, Nursery Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner, Early Years Educator, Nanny, Childminder or similar
- Passion for making learning fun and engaging for each child
- Ability to develop trust and strong working partnerships with both colleagues and parents
- Ability to use a variety of communication techniques with both children and adults
- Basic knowledge of early years curriculum principles is an asset
