The Opportunity
MP Recruitment are supporting an innovative and growing medical technology/manufacturing business in Oxfordshire with the recruitment of a Facilities & Equipment Maintenance Engineer.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys fault-finding, preventative maintenance, equipment servicing and solving technical problems within a busy laboratory, cleanroom, manufacturing and facilities environment.
Working within a highly regulated medical device environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and compliance of laboratory equipment, cleanroom facilities, utilities and building services.
The role is primarily site-based with little or no travel, giving you the opportunity to take ownership of a varied range of equipment and facilities within a modern technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on laboratory, production, cleanroom and facilities equipment
- Diagnose faults, coordinate repairs and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime
- Maintain and manage preventative maintenance schedules
- Coordinate external contractors, engineers and specialist service providers
- Arrange servicing, calibration and specialist repairs where required
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, SOPs, risk assessments and asset registers
- Manage critical spare parts and maintenance requirements
- Support Production, Quality and R&D teams with equipment qualification, validation and verification
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance and maintenance processes
- Promote high standards of Health & Safety across the site
- Work within controlled cleanroom environments, following required gowning and PPE procedures
About You
We are looking for a practical, organised and proactive engineer who enjoys being hands-on, solving technical problems and keeping equipment and facilities running efficiently.
You will ideally have:
- An engineering apprenticeship, HNC/HND, degree or equivalent qualification
- Previous maintenance experience within a laboratory, manufacturing or engineering environment
- Experience maintaining industrial, laboratory or production equipment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience with both preventative and reactive maintenance
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of maintenance activities
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Good Health & Safety awareness
Desirable Experience
Experience within any of the following would be advantageous:
- Medical devices, pharmaceutical, biotech or another regulated environment
- ISO 13485 or GMP
- HVAC, cleanroom or laboratory equipment
- Calibration management
- IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualification
