Starting Salary: £25,759 rising to £26,295 after probation period
Hours: 8.00am - 4.00pm. Term Time Only
This school works with pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.
About You: As a HLTA, you will collaborate with the class teacher to provide essential support to students offsite. We are seeking an individual who is inherently supportive and proactive, ideally with previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
- Experience working with children who have special needs.
- A Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant degree is desirable.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- To work 1:1 and 2:1 with key stage 4 students in the community under the instruction of teaching/senior staff, to support access to learning for pupils with SEMH, additional complex needs and challenging behaviour, and provide general pastoral and academic support to the students.
- To deliver basic Maths and English as well as support the students with work experience, life skills and their physical activities day to day.
- Assisting the teacher in delivering work with the children in the class.
- Supporting children with their classwork, reading, and writing skills.
- Supporting with behaviour management.
- Planning and leading targeted interventions to support pupils in development areas.
- Developing curricular knowledge as required by the school.
- Undertaking observations of pupils and contributing to pupil records.
- Supporting the class teacher with the general management and supervision of the classroom.
- Working in small groups or on a 1:1 basis with learners.
