MP Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Abingdon with the recruitment of a Permanent Assistant Category Manager.
This is a great opportunity for an organised and commercially minded administrator who is looking to develop their career within procurement, purchasing or category management.
Working as part of an experienced Category Management team, you will provide day-to-day support across supplier management, product data, sourcing activity and category administration. You’ll gain valuable exposure to the commercial side of a busy manufacturing business, with the opportunity to develop your skills and take on increasing responsibility.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the Category Management team with day-to-day administration and sourcing activity
- Maintaining accurate product, supplier and category information
- Assisting with supplier communication and relationship management
- Supporting pricing reviews, product updates and purchasing information
- Preparing reports and analysing information using Excel
- Assisting with category plans and procurement projects
- Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to ensure information and actions are followed up
- Helping to identify opportunities to improve processes, costs and supplier performance
- Providing general administrative and organisational support to the Category Management team
What we're looking for:
You don't necessarily need previous category management experience. We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and keen to build a career in this area.
You may already have experience in:
- Administration, purchasing, procurement or product administration
- A manufacturing, retail, distribution or product-based environment
- Working with suppliers or internal stakeholders
- Using Excel and Microsoft Office
- Managing multiple tasks and maintaining accurate records
You'll need excellent attention to detail, good communication skills and the confidence to work with a range of people.
