About The Role:
We are looking for an Assistant Plumbing and Heating Manager to play a key leadership role in driving sales growth, margin, and customer acquisition while supporting the Manager in the day‑to‑day running of this plumbing and heating department within our Builder’s Merchant in Willesden. This is a hands‑on, commercially focused role, leading from the front on the trade counter and proactively developing trade relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
- Drive sales performance against targets by growing plumbing and heating trade accounts, increasing spend, and improving quote conversion
- Promote a sales-first culture, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities while protecting margin
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trade customers, ensuring high service levels and repeat business
- Act as a key contact for customer issues, resolving escalations and supporting commercial decisions
- Lead by example on the trade counter, coaching and motivating the team to achieve targets
- Support team development through training on products, systems, and sales techniques, and deputise when required
- Maintain efficient branch operations, including stock control, merchandising, and adherence to health & safety standards
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in a plumbers’/builders’ merchant or trade supply environment with a strong sales track record
- Commercially minded, confident discussing pricing, margins, and closing deals
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both customers and colleagues
- Strong knowledge of plumbing & heating products
- Sales-driven, proactive, and results-oriented with a strong customer focus
- Hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
