Estimator Location: Home-based, with travel across the North East region required approximately once or twice per week. Salary: £70,000 Basic Reports To: Head of Commercial Overview My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Estimator to join its Commercial team. Working closely with the Commercial, Land & Design teams, the successful candidate will undertake a full range of pre and post contract estimating services across a diverse portfolio of residential and mixed-use developments, including housing schemes, extra care developments and joint venture projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded construction professional looking to play a key role in the successful delivery of high-quality developments while contributing to the continued growth of the business. Key Responsibilities Prepare preliminary estimates, cost plans and feasibility studies in collaboration with Commercial, Land, Design and Construction teams. Support Quantity Surveyors throughout the tendering process. Ensure tender documentation complies with procurement policies and procedures. Maintain and regularly update house-type cost libraries to ensure pricing accuracy. Conduct cost analyses of design options using current subcontractor and supplier pricing. Assist in developing and maintaining subcontractor frameworks. Support the buying team by quantifying plot packs and material requirements. Assist with the organisation and procurement of statutory services and utilities. Help plan and schedule new workstreams while responding to enquiries in a timely and cost-effective manner. Contribute to the development and improvement of management information systems, processes and procedures. Support the training and development of colleagues in the use of relevant systems and processes. Prioritise workloads effectively to ensure deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy. Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and service providers to deliver best-value outcomes. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required. Candidate Requirements Essential Practical experience within an estimating role and associated commercial procedures and practices. Sound knowledge of standard methods of measurement and quantity surveying practices. Working knowledge of contract administration and standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT. Strong analytical and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Full UK Driving Licence. Desirable Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, CommercialManagement or a related discipline. Knowledge of current building regulations, NHBC requirements and industry standards. Experience using COINS software. Package £70,000 basic salary.
