The Terex Materials Processing Division’s Crushing Technology Team designs the next generation of crushers for the Powerscreen, Finlay and MPS ranges. The role involves identifying opportunities to develop and improve existing products.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the relevant lead engineer to develop new and maintain existing crushing chambers within defined timescales.
  • Provide engineered solutions for new product development and modifications to existing products.
  • Produce full manufacturing specification packages, including engineering BOMs.
  • Resolve problems at the root cause quickly and effectively and manage the engineering change process relating to crushing chambers.
  • Follow Group standards in QFD, FMEA, design‑for‑manufacture, prototype development and field testing.
  • Follow Group engineering standards and associated IT systems to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
  • Guarantee current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability.
  • Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design and consultation with production, purchasing and suppliers.
  • Investigate and address customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Drive standardisation of components and sub‑assemblies within crushing products.
  • Stay knowledgeable of machine component advancements and competitor design trends, applying the latest technology where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3D modelling experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative and innovative thinking.
  • Problem‑solving tool knowledge – 8D preferred.
  • Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines.
  • Ability to select from multiple design alternatives when a clear best choice is not evident.
  • Ability to investigate root cause of machinery non‑performance.
  • Can identify risks both technical and commercial with proposed product change or new product.
