The Senior Design Engineer will develop new mobile recycling machinery and maintain existing equipment within defined timescales.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineered solutions for new products and modifications to existing products.
- Follow Group standards in QFD, FMEA, design‑for‑manufacture, prototype development and field testing.
- Use Group engineering standards and IT systems to ensure effective global management of released engineering data.
- Ensure current and new products meet safety, functionality and reliability standards.
- Reduce manufacturing cost through improved design in consultation with production, purchasing and suppliers.
- Investigate and address customer complaints promptly.
- Stay knowledgeable of component advancements and competitor design trends; apply latest technology to designs where appropriate.
- Provide additional duties as required by the role.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or equivalent in engineering, ideally with design experience in mobile tracked equipment.
- Proficient in 3D solid modeling CAD (preferably CREO) and familiar with Product Data Management systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with mobile recycling machinery is advantageous.
- Understanding of the equipment’s applications and performance expectations.
- Creative and innovative thinking.
- Experience with Oracle TMS is a plus.
- Good English communication skills (written and spoken); good presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Can‑do attitude and ability to work with a multi‑functional team, meet deadlines and assess workload accurately.
- Ability to select from multiple design alternatives and identify technical and commercial risks.
