This role will be responsible for the support of the Human Resources and HSE functions through a year-long placement, gaining hands‑on experience across core HR activities and health, safety, and environmental compliance. This role provides exposure to team member lifecycle processes, training, wellbeing initiatives, and workplace health and safety systems while supporting continuous improvement across both areas.

Responsibilities

  • Day‑to‑day HR administration, including team member records, contracts, and personnel files
  • Recruitment activities such as job postings, CV screening, interview coordination, and onboarding
  • Support induction programs for new team members
  • Absence management tracking and HR reporting
  • Team member engagement initiatives and internal communications
  • Training coordination, record‑keeping, and development activities
  • Maintain accurate HR data in accordance with GDPR and company policies
  • Implementation and maintenance of HSE policies and procedures
  • Incident reporting, investigations, and corrective action tracking
  • Risk assessments and safe systems of work documentation
  • Compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • HSE training and awareness initiatives coordination
  • Audits, inspections, and ISO or regulatory compliance activities
  • Continuous improvement projects within HSE

Essential Qualifications

  • Currently studying towards a degree in Human Resources Management, Business, a related discipline OR Occupational Health and Safety / Environmental Health / NEBOSH General / NEBOSH Diploma
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management and ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work within a team and on own initiative
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous work placement or relevant experience
  • IOSH Managing Safety Knowledge
  • Knowledge of HR practices or HSE legislation
  • Interest in wellbeing and workplace safety
  • Experience with HRIS or HSE systems
