We\’re Hiring: Children and Young People\’s Assessment Worker Location: Pontypool Hwb (with Gwent-wide travel – mileage paid at 45p per mile) Hours: 28-35 hours per week (Full-time: 35hrs preferred) Days: between Monday and Friday – 9am to 4.30pm Contract: Temporary – 3 to 5 months Salary: £24,000 per annum (pro rata if part-time) Make a Real Difference to Young Lives This charity believes in empowering children and young people to thrive, heal, and feel safe. We\’re seeking a compassionate and proactive Children and Young People\’s Assessment Worker to join a dedicated team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for young survivors of Violence Against Women and Girls, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) – providing a trauma-informed, person-centred assessment and referral pathway. About the Role You\’ll lead on assessments and manage referrals, ensuring children and young people (ages 5-18) are supported with care, urgency, and understanding. You\’ll: Carry out face-to-face and remote risk and needs assessments Collaborate closely with our CYP team and external partners Allocate appropriate services and ensure timely follow-ups Maintain accurate, sensitive records and contribute to case management Build trusted relationships with young people and their caregivers What We\’re Looking For We\’re looking for someone who is resilient, empathetic, and dedicated to making a difference. You\’ll bring: Essential: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in child care, health, education or similar (or equivalent work experience) Experience working with vulnerable children/young people Understanding of VAWDASV and safeguarding principles Valid driving licence and access to a car (with business insurance) DBS live on the update service (enhanced) Desirable: Training in areas such as Safeguarding, Domestic Abuse, Suicide Prevention Experience with support planning and case load management Knowledge of children\’s rights and trauma-informed practices If you want to help build safer futures for children and young people, we\’d love to hear from you.
