Surveyor | Social Housing

Fancy a role where your technical expertise is actually listened to?

Not another job where you're constantly firefighting.

Not another diary full of avoidable issues created by poor planning.

And not another organisation where surveying is treated as an afterthought.

If you're an experienced Surveyor looking for a position with genuine variety, autonomy and influence, this could be worth a look.

We're working with a well-established housing provider that is investing heavily in its homes, services and customer experience. As part of that commitment, they're looking for a Surveyor who can provide technical leadership across repairs, disrepair, planned works and property investment programmes.

This isn't a purely desk-based role.

Nor is it purely reactive.

It's the type of position where you'll use your technical knowledge to solve complex property issues, support strategic decisions and help maintain high standards across a varied housing portfolio.

The Role

You'll act as the technical lead on a broad range of surveying activities, including:

  • Diagnosing complex building defects and recommending practical solutions
  • Managing disrepair inspections and producing detailed housing condition reports
  • Supporting legal teams with technical expertise where required
  • Delivering surveying support across responsive repairs and planned investment programmes
  • Assessing stock condition and identifying future component replacement requirements
  • Overseeing specialist and contractor-delivered works
  • Supporting Disabled Facilities Grant adaptations and associated inspections
  • Providing technical advice to operational teams, contractors and stakeholders across the business

You'll be trusted to make informed decisions, manage your own workload and work closely with colleagues across repairs, planned works and asset management functions.

What They're Looking For

You'll likely have experience within social housing, property maintenance, asset management or building surveying and be comfortable managing a varied workload across occupied homes.

The offer:

  • 28 days annual leave + public holidays.
  • Up to 10% employer pension contribution.
  • fantastic support and work life balance.
  • Life Insurance - 4x your annual salary - you choose who benefits.
  • Enhanced sick pay (up to 12 months after 6 years' service).
  • Paid professional memberships.
  • Employee Assistance Programme & mental health support.
  • Hybrid and remote working options.
  • New Van, fuel card, and professional uniforms.
  • Tools covered by insurance.
  • Learning & development opportunities.
  • Retail, travel, and lifestyle discounts.
  • Flexible holiday buy/sell scheme.
  • IIP Platinum accredited employer ( top 1% in the UK).
  • Deep commitment to social impact and thriving communities.

Ideally you'll bring:

  • Experience in building surveying, property maintenance or technical inspections
  • A qualification in Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of building defects, repairs and maintenance solutions
  • The ability to produce clear technical reports and recommendations
  • Experience working with contractors and multiple stakeholders
  • A commercially minded approach with a focus on value for money and customer outcomes

Membership of RICS would be advantageous but isn't essential

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • What makes this role different is the balance.
  • You'll be given responsibility and autonomy without being left unsupported.
  • The work is varied enough to keep things interesting, but structured enough to avoid the constant chaos that many surveyors have become used to.
  • You'll join a business where surveying expertise genuinely influences decisions, investment priorities and service improvements.

In short, you'll be able to focus on what you're good at: solving property problems, improving homes and delivering professional advice that adds value.

Interested?

No pressure to apply today.

If you'd simply like to understand more about the organisation, the team and what's planned over the next few years, I'm happy to have a confidential conversation and let you decide whether it's worth exploring further.

Sometimes a quick chat is all it takes to find out if the next move is the right one.
