Are you able to connect with, and support, young people (16+)? Do you have knowledge of homelessness? What about working in the social care or support sector? We are working with a charity in the Caerphilly area to find a Support Assistant to cover various shifts within a supported housing setting.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY ROLE - COVERING APPROX. 2 MONTHS - PART TIME - 28 hours per week. You will need a DBS on the live update service.

What will you get?

  • Salary of £24,820 (pro-rata for part time). This is the equivalent to £12 per hour.
  • 28 hours per week.
  • All shifts are days - 9.30am to 5pm.
  • 3 week rolling rota:
  • Week 1 is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Week 2 is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
  • Week 3 is Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday.

What will you do?

  • Support young people (16 to 24 years old) who have experienced homelessness. This is not a Care job, there is no personal care involved.
  • Provide emotional and practical support.
  • Advice and guidance.
  • Follow the support plans set out by the Support Worker.
  • Assist with setting up benefits and finances.

What do we need?

  • You will need some experience working with this age group.
  • Knowledge of housing or homelessness.
  • Able to build trust, while remaining professional.
  • The ability to deal with challenging situations and behaviours.
  • Keep a cool head in a crisis.
  • Good with record keeping and reporting/recording incidents.
