Housing Solicitor

Vale of Glamorgan | Hybrid working

£38,000 – £42,000 (DOE)

Some legal roles are about billable hours. Others are about making a real difference to communities. This opportunity sits firmly in the second category. We’re supporting a growing legal team that works closely with housing associations and purpose-led organisations across Wales, helping them manage complex housing matters that directly impact local communities.

If you're a solicitor who enjoys varied, practical legal work and wants to apply your legal skills in a values-driven environment, this could be a brilliant next step.

The Role

You’ll work across a wide range of housing-related legal matters, supporting organisations that provide homes and services to thousands of people across Wales. The work is interesting, varied and genuinely meaningful, combining legal expertise with practical problem solving. Typical work will include:

  • Advising on housing management matters
  • Supporting cases relating to anti-social behaviour and tenancy enforcement
  • Handling housing disrepair and property condition claims
  • Managing cases from initial instruction through to court where required
  • Drafting legal documentation and providing practical advice to clients
  • Building trusted relationships with housing professionals and operational teams

The role offers excellent exposure and the opportunity to develop real expertise in housing law and housing litigation, an area of law that is growing in importance across Wales.

What We’re Looking For

We’re open to solicitors at an early stage of qualification who are keen to develop their career within housing law. You might already have experience in litigation or property law, or you might simply be motivated by the chance to apply your legal skills in a purpose-driven sector. We’d love to hear from people who have:

  • At least 1 year PQE (or similar experience)
  • A current practising certificate for England & Wales
  • Litigation or dispute resolution experience (helpful but not essential)
  • Strong drafting, communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage a varied caseload and work collaboratively within a team
  • A genuine interest in housing, communities and social impact

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn’t a traditional legal environment. The team works closely with organisations whose mission is to provide safe homes and stronger communities, meaning the work has a clear social purpose. You’ll benefit from:

  • A supportive and collaborative team
  • Genuine career development and learning opportunities
  • A varied caseload that will build your expertise quickly
  • Hybrid working and a flexible approach
  • The chance to build a career in a growing and highly respected specialist area of law
