Are you an experienced Support Worker ready to step into a leadership role? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Senior Support Worker to join our team in a specialised Supported Housing environment. In this role, you will play a vital part in leading a team that empowers women facing complex challenges, including poor mental health, trauma, substance misuse, and homelessness. If you are passionate about trauma-informed care and want to mentor others to deliver life-changing support, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do (Role Overview)

As a Senior Support Worker, you will work closely with the Operations Manager to lead, mentor, and supervise our passionate Support Team. You will balance a reduced personal caseload of clients with operational responsibilities, ensuring our services remain high-quality, person-centred, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and mentoring to Support Workers. Assist with staff supervisions, appraisals, and the induction of new team members.
  • High-Quality Case Management: Manage a reduced caseload of women with complex needs, conducting regular needs assessments, risk assessments, and creating tailored safety plans (including MARF, SERAF, MARAC).
  • Empowerment & Support: Help clients build independent living skills, navigate parenting, manage finances, sustain their tenancies, and advocate for their rights.
  • Quality Assurance: Manage client referrals, maintain accurate waiting lists, and monitor service standards to ensure they meet the Housing Support Grant (HSG) framework.
  • Operational Duties: Maintain precise, confidential records, prepare operational reports, and participate in the 24‑hour on-call manager rota system.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of direct experience delivering housing-related support services, with a proven track record of working with vulnerable individuals facing multiple, co-occurring needs (e.g., domestic abuse, mental health issues, substance use).
  • Skills: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and IT literacy (MS Office, Teams). Strong risk identification and safeguarding knowledge for adults and children.
  • Approach: A firm commitment to fairness, flexibility, and a person-centred, trauma-informed approach.
  • Requirements: A good standard of general education, a full driving licence, and access to a vehicle for business use.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and taking part in the 24‑hour on-call rota. You will need to be a driver with access to a vehicle.

Desirable (But Not Essential)

  • A recognised qualification in social care, housing, counselling, or youth work (e.g., NVQ/ILM Level 3 or above).
  • Accredited training in trauma-informed practice, ACEs recovery toolkit, PIE, or Mental Health First Aid (or a willingness to complete these within 18 months of appointment).
  • Previous line management or project planning experience.

Why Join Us?

  • Make a Real Difference: Directly impact the lives of women overcoming trauma and homelessness.
  • Professional Growth: We heavily invest in your development. If you don't already have advanced certifications in trauma-informed practice or mental health support, we will support you to achieve them within your first 18 months.
  • A Supportive Culture: Work within a collaborative, ambitious learning environment where your voice and the lived experiences of our clients truly matter.

PLEASE NOTE THIS ROLE IS OPEN TO FEMALE CANDIDATES ONLY - IT IS EXEMPT FROM THE EQUALITY ACT 2010
