A day in the life

What will you do?

  • You start your shift by checking in with the team and reading handover notes so you understand what young people might need today
  • You build trust through everyday conversations, knowing when to listen and when to gently challenge
  • You support young people to work towards their goals, encouraging independence rather than doing things for them
  • You use your judgement to respond to conflict or safeguarding concerns, following clear procedures and getting support when needed
  • You record what matters so the whole team stays connected and consistent
  • You help keep the service safe, calm and welcoming for everyone

What you will need

  • Experience supporting young people or adults with complex needs
  • Confidence working as part of a team and sometimes lone working with support in place
  • Ability to communicate clearly and record information accurately
  • A calm, non judgemental approach
  • Enhanced DBS, or willingness to complete one
