How would you like to support veterans who are struggling with housing and homelessness? Do you have experience of working with those who need support with benefits, housing applications and personal finances? We need someone to step in to the role of Support Worker for an incredible charity in Wrexham.
What will you get?
- A Permanent contract with a well-known, UK wide charity.
- Salary of £26,623 per annum
- Full time hours (40 hrs per week)
- A straightforward working pattern: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
- No weekend or overnight working
- Great annual leave package

What will you do?
- You will support adults who have left the armed forces and are experiencing homelessness
- Carry out support meetings to plan what needs to be put in place
- Assist with the completion of benefit forms and housing applications
- Help individuals make positive life choices that may shape their future
- Work alongside the Assistant Support Worker and Service Manager
- Set up medical and other appointments with and for the people you support
- Be an advocate, guide and mentor
- Keep accurate records using the online system
- Safeguard the residents and promote wellbeing
What do you need to do this role?
- You will need experience in supporting vulnerable adults
- Knowledge of the benefits system
- Understand how to complete housing applications
- Good knowledge of the main causes of homelessness
- Able to deal with challenging situations and deescalate to maintain a calm environment
- Experience of other complex issues e.g. substance misuse and mental health
- If you have knowledge of the armed forces, great...but this is not essential
- A driver with access to a vehicle - due to location (in a rural area outside Wrexham)
- A current DBS on the update service would be an advantage (not essential)
