Homelessness Outreach Worker – Newport Newport 40 hours per week – Ongoing Temporary Contract, approx. 3 months but could go on longer. Β£13.45 per hour (Real Living Wage) 4-week rolling rota, 1 weekend per month As winter approaches and temperatures drop, the need for compassionate, proactive outreach support is more crucial than ever. We\’re looking for someone who shares a deep commitment to helping others – someone who believes in dignity, hope, and opportunity for every person. In this vital front-line role, you\’ll support individuals who are rough sleeping across Newport, helping them access safe accommodation and essential services. You\’ll build trusting relationships, deliver person-centred interventions, and advocate for people at a time when they need it most. What you\’ll be doing: Engaging with rough sleepers across the community through assertive outreach Offering guidance and emotional support to help individuals move away from the rough sleeping Working collaboratively with partners to secure emergency and longer-term accommodation Supporting people to access healthcare, benefits, and support networks Keeping accurate records and contributing to ongoing service improvements What we\’re looking for: Empathetic, resilient, and motivated to make a difference Experience in homelessness, support work, mental health, or similar environments Strong communication and advocacy skills Ability to work flexibly as part of a rota-based team Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (work related mileage paid) Enhanced DBS on the Update Service Shift pattern: You\’ll work on a 4-week rolling rota: Week 1: 8am – 4pm Week 2: 11am – 8pm Week 3: 9am – 5pm Week 4: 9am – 5pm 1 weekend per month – with alternate weekdays off in return Why join?
