About the Role
Are you an experienced clinical leader looking to make a meaningful impact in community support services? A leading care provider is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager (Clinical) to work alongside their Registered Manager. In this pivotal position, you will help lead the team in delivering high-quality, person-centred support that enables clients to live independently within their community.
You will combine clinical oversight with operational leadership, ensuring that the service meets the highest standards of quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and local authority contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and oversight on medication administration, wound management, and personal care activities across registered services.
- Team Management & Development: Lead, line-manage, and mentor a team of 6 to 12 front-line staff, overseeing recruitment, onboarding, training, and regular monthly supervisions.
- Quality & Performance: Monitor team KPIs, complete quality checks across service areas, and ensure high standards of customer service.
- Risk & Safeguarding: Lead on service user risk assessments and mitigation plans, ensuring 100% compliance with safeguarding reporting protocols and health and safety legislation.
- Crisis Resolution & Incident Handling: Handle safeguarding matters, carry out reflective practice debriefs, and manage service user complaints to successful resolution within agreed SLAs.
- Operational Oversight: Conduct quarterly medication audits, evaluate client support plans, and ensure outcomes align with the Wheel of Independence framework.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications & Experience: Registered Mental Health Qualification with a valid NMC PIN (or equivalent professional qualification) or a clinical background in occupational therapy, nursing, mental health, physical health or similar. Recognised management qualification. Proven experience in a CQC-regulated service, ideally at Deputy Manager or Manager level. Relevant experience working within mental health or a comparable field.
- Skills & Knowledge: Robust knowledge of safeguarding protocols, CQC regulations, relevant legislation, and local resources. Strong IT skills and experience managing caseloads, performance metrics, and investigation processes. Confident communication skills for team briefings and stakeholder relationships.
- Other Requirements: Enhanced DBS clearance (can be carried out by the employer before starting). Valid Right to Work status in the UK. Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance. Flexibility to participate in an on-call rota (approx. 1 week in 4, with additional payments provided as compensation).
