Job Type: Full-time, Fixed Term Contract until August 2027

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (6-week rolling rota covering 24/7 shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and nights)

Looking for a career where you can make a tangible difference? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Bespoke Repatriation Service (BRS) as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach.

About the Role

As an alternative to traditional models of care, the BRS supports patients throughout Gwent to transition from secure or residential settings into community settings with their own tenancies. In this vital role, you will work alongside the Team Leader and Senior Coach to deliver a responsive, 24/7 tailored service. Collaborating closely with the Intensive Case Management Team and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, you will develop support plans underpinned by the principles of Structured Clinical Management (SCM). We are looking for a skilled problem solver with experience in crisis planning who takes a goal-focused, supportive approach to managing mental health difficulties and advocating for service users. Full training in SCM, alongside ongoing support and supervision, will be provided.

Key Accountabilities

  • Practical Support: Assist individuals with Care and Treatment Plan reviews, medical appointments, and community activities. Support emotional regulation, problem-solving, relationship building, and daily living skills (e.g., budgeting, tenancy management, diet, and nutrition).
  • Empowerment: Ensure service users have choice and control in their support delivery, acting as equal partners in shaping the service.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in reflective practice, supervisions, and team meetings. Actively promote standards underpinned by a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE).
  • Compliance & Safety: Update daily records and incident reports, and expedite safeguarding issues promptly to the Team Leader or Intensive Care Team.
  • Reporting: Gather regular measurements and resident feedback to assist with service reviews and contribute to monthly/quarterly reports.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Proven experience in frontline support of service users, ideally managing complex mental health difficulties and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work as part of a large team on a 6-week rolling rota covering 24/7 shifts (including days, weekends, evenings, and nights).
  • Mobility: A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across Gwent and to inpatient settings further afield.
  • Relationship Building: The ability to establish trusting therapeutic relationships, model positive behaviours, and confidently set clear boundaries and expectations.
  • Attributes: High emotional intelligence, a non-judgmental and empathetic approach, resilience, and the ability to react quickly and positively under your own initiative.

Desirable Criteria

  • An understanding of PIE, ACEs, and strength/restorative-based approaches.
  • Experience in representing or advocating for the needs of service users.
  • A good understanding of community and third-sector organisations across Gwent.
  • Welsh language skills.
  • A willingness to reflect positively on feedback and a desire to further personal learning.
