Are you passionate about supporting older people to live independently and safely in their own homes? We are recruiting for an Independent Living Officer to manage an independent living scheme and general needs sites in the Barry and Vale of Glamorgan area. This is a varied, community-based role where you will combine housing management, wellbeing support and compliance responsibilities to help tenants sustain their tenancies and thrive.
PLEASE NOTE - This is an ongoing temporary role. A DBS on the live update service is essential.
Full time - 37 hours per week
Salary: £27,478
Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Temporary contract with a possibility of moving to permanent
The Role
- You will manage your own patch, providing high-quality housing and support services while meeting key performance and compliance standards.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Daily wellbeing checks with tenants
- Managing Tunstall alarm systems
- Conducting fire safety and health & safety compliance checks
- Managing voids, lettings and allocations
- Proactively managing rent accounts
- Responding to ASB and tenancy issues
- Identifying safeguarding concerns and working with partner agencies
- Promoting tenant engagement and organising social activities
About You
- Experience working with older people or within housing/support services
- Good understanding of tenancy management and housing legislation
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confident working independently and making sound decisions
- Good IT skills (Microsoft Office)
- Knowledge of the Barry and Vale of Glamorgan area would be useful
Desirable: Housing qualification or knowledge, knowledge of welfare benefits.
Essential: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle AND a DBS on the live update service.
