Do you want to be part of a new project aimed at helping people across Cardiff who are experiencing homelessness? How about working for a charity that is well known across the world for being there to help and support those in need? We are looking for two Assistant Support Workers to do just that. You'll be there to listen, advise and support. To act with compassion, respect and understanding, while promoting client choices and assisting in the delivery of a successful programme.

Temporary contracts between 6 and 12 months. THESE ARE 40 HOURS PER WEEK POSITIONS x 2.

What will you get?

  • This equates to £12.78 per hour

  • Shifts are between 7am and 5pm - then 11am to 8pm

What do you need?

  • Experience of working with those who have been through homelessness
  • An understanding of trauma and how it can affect behaviours
  • The ability to work with others, encourage them and understand their complex lives
  • Be non-judgmental and empathic
  • Able to communicate at all levels
  • Willing to cover various shift patterns
  • Be motivated to help others
  • Able to complete a DBS check or have a live check on the update service (this will be covered by the employer)
  • A DBS on the update service is desirable

What will I do?

  • You'll work at a busy project in Cardiff set up specifically to support people struggling with homelessness
  • The environment is one of Cardiff's largest homelessness projects with 66 beds supporting adults 18 and over.
  • You'll work within a psychologically informed framework aiming to deliver zero evictions within the projects
  • Offer post-resettlement support to people
  • Help them to move and settle into independent living once they are ready
