Overview
SDUK\’s brands include the Nation\’s favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly, Wensleydale, and Sheese), functional ingredients and dairy free products. This Cheese Packer position offers experience in the cheese-making process, supporting the quality of product being packaged before maturing. The role provides real progression opportunities to build a career in the industry. You will use computers to operate machinery, track data and analyse the cheese coming through, ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality products. Shift Pattern: 3 on 3 off, days and nights. 7 7
Salary: £31,053.24 per annum
Responsibilities
- Operate cheese packing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production instructions.
- Be hands-on in the event of downtime or breakdown.
- Maintain cheese quality by manually handling cheese (20kg) and manually boxing up to 50 tonnes at 10 tonnes an hour.
- Undertake process monitoring, keep accurate records, and take corrective action to maintain cheese line efficiencies and packaging quality.
- Understand and carry out hygiene and housekeeping requirements within the cheese department in line with schedules and food safety requirements.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to improve working methods.

- Someone with deep, demonstrable experience in a food production environment, following recipes, or showing a passion for the food and products we produce.
- Knowledgeable with basic IT skills; ability to use a PC/HMI (with keyboard skills) and knowledge of Word and Excel is an advantage.
- Efficient with problem solving skills.
- Able to communicate and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Aware of basic food hygiene and health and safety procedures; completion of IOSH working safety is desirable.
