At Movianto Group we are currently seeking a senior manager experienced in Transport Service Provision and/or Procurement within the Freight & Logistics or the Pharma/Healthcare arena, to strengthen our central team as Transport Director. This role has overall responsibility for Movianto Group relationships with Transport Service Providers (TSP) offering transport & distribution services to Movianto Group. The responsibility is also to implement and maintain the purchased solution according to Movianto internal, clients and customer needs.
The Transport Director will work closely with teammates in each of the countries within the Movianto Group, Sister companies of Walden, e.g. Internal TSPs and External TSPs to ensure that cost effective transport solutions & services are available for all Movianto clients. The Transport Director will actively participate and support the Commercial Teams in tenders by providing their advice regarding the needed transport solutions and pricings. The Transport Director will be responsible to lead & approve all annual price negotiations with TSPs.
Regular travel to Movianto countries and sites across Europe is part of the job. The main office location can be at any of the following sites:
- UK: Lutterworth (LE17 4XZ) or Bedford (MK43 9SS) or Haydock (WA11 9SE)
- Germany: Neunkirchen (66540) or Frankfurt area
- France: Cournon-d’Auvergne (63808) or Moussy-le-Neuf (77230)
Please note, due to the nature of the role it is essential for the post holder to be present onsite when not travelling across Europe to visit other sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Key point of contact with all TSPs offering services to Movianto Group.
- Specification of service agreements with transport suppliers which ensure that Movianto Group meets its obligations to clients and customers.
- Support local transport teams by identifying and selecting the appropriate TSPs and negotiating the most favourable terms for each Movianto region, area or country.
- Standardise carrier services and commercial framework to enable simplified cross country transport agreements.
- Leading negotiations and standardisation of Master Service Agreements with TSPs.
- Implement terms with major TSPs which deliver volume-based benefits to Movianto.
- Ongoing rate negotiation and benchmarking of transport services and alignment of client charging/pricing agreements to maximise the return on transport activity in all areas/countries (reduce cost & increase margin).
- Work in partnership with all Movianto Group countries ensuring their understanding of the services available and delivering stand-alone and integrated transport projects.
- Support Commercial teammates where required to fulfil transportation proposals covering multiple markets and services and develop new client solutions.
- Support the Commercial team in client presentations and visits (internal and external meetings, telephone conferences).
- Develop and retain existing carrier relationships as well as identify new suppliers which can benefit Movianto’s service offering to clients.
- Accumulate up to date knowledge of the international freight markets to ensure that competitive solutions are offered to clients and identify and create new services/innovations which will provide opportunities for new business.
- Work in close cooperation with teammates in countries where transport services are offered by the Movianto & Walden Group with own fleets and share best practices and services offered by external TSPs as well as the group transportation Director.
- Managing and running regular service reviews with key TSPs in this area including KPI compliance evaluations.
- Ensure TSPs are performing to contract terms, taking corrective action where required and creating continuous improvement initiatives.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in supply chain, logistics, procurement or relevant other area.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar/relevant role in transport service provision and/or procurement.
- Proven successful background within Freight & Logistics or the Pharma/Healthcare arena.
Required Competencies
- Strong knowledge of rate tariff structures and pricing methodology.
- Proven relationships/network in the European transportation sector.
- Excellent negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Strong understanding of parcel industry, freight forwarding and international transportation.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to present well in front of senior internal & external stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and observation skills.
- Languages: fluent English (verbal and written). Please note, if you apply to this role in France or Germany, it is mandatory to be also fluent in respectively French or German.
