Men are dying too young – and it doesn’t have to be that way. Around the world, men are facing a health crisis: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and suicide. At Movember we’re on a mission to change the face of men’s health by making it easier for men to talk, act and live longer healthier lives. Every project, every campaign, every idea adds up to real change. You’ll be part of a purpose‑fueled crew who believe making an impact and having fun should go hand in hand. Your mission is calling. DO GOOD. Work for Movember.

The Research Assistant: Health Systems will play a key role in Movember's Health Systems research portfolio, supporting work that explores how healthcare systems can better respond to men's needs. Sitting within Initiative 2 (Systems Research), this role focuses on understanding the barriers, enablers, and opportunities for systemic change across primary care, mental health, and healthcare workforce education. Reporting to the Research Fellow: Health Systems, the position is based in the United Kingdom and supports research activity across Movember's core markets including Australia, Canada, and the US.

At the heart of this role is systems mapping – a core methodology used to visualise complex relationships between healthcare workforce, policy, service delivery, and men’s health outcomes. Day‑to‑day, you'll support the design and facilitation of stakeholder workshops, assist with qualitative data collection (interviews, focus groups, participatory mapping), and contribute to analysis using tools like NVivo, SPSS, and STATA. You'll also help prepare ethics applications, maintain research records, and support funding submissions and grant reporting. Beyond the research itself, you'll play an active role in communicating findings to the people who need them most. This includes contributing to peer‑reviewed publications, policy briefs, plain‑language summaries, and conference presentations – as well as coordinating with internal teams across content, evaluation, and advocacy to ensure research insights shape Movember's broader gender‑responsive healthcare agenda.

No Moustache Required - But The Following Are

  • Completed at least an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree with Honours in a relevant field (e.g., public health, health services research, social sciences, psychology, systems science).
  • Experience in qualitative research methods, including interviews, focus groups, or participatory research.
  • Awareness of ethical principles and responsibilities in conducting research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills including time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Not Mission Critical - But For Extra Bonus Points

  • Experience of understanding complex systems, including how different parts of a system interact, influence each other, and change over time (for example, using systems thinking or mapping tools).
  • Familiarity with systems mapping software (e.g., Kumu, Vensim, STICKE, or similar).
  • Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g. SPSS, STATA, R or NVivo).
  • Experience in report writing and working as part of a team on research publications and presentations.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement or participatory research approaches.
  • Working knowledge of men’s health, primary care, or mental health service systems.
  • Previous experience in a research assistant role.
