Principal Utilities Engineer/Manager - Sustainability

Key responsibilities

  • Lead reliable provision and optimisation of utilities including water, electricity, gas, HVAC, compressed air, chilled water and process systems.
  • Identify and deliver improvements that reduce cost, consumption and emissions while improving resilience and supporting future growth.
  • Maintain electrical safety and compliance across UK manufacturing sites as Electrical Duty Holder and Senior Electrical Authority.
  • Produce utility usage, cost saving, compliance and sustainability reports for internal stakeholders and external obligations including ESOS.
  • Work with engineering, maintenance, EHS, production, finance, vendors and leadership teams to deliver continuous improvement.
  • Coach technical staff and promote safe, efficient utility use across operations.
  • Travel
  • Regular travel between Hampshire sites, with occasional off-site meetings, conferences or vendor visits.

About you

  • Strong experience in utilities, facilities management or engineering
  • Proven ability to improve utility performance using data, technology, process optimisation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Electrical safety and compliance expertise, ideally across multi-site operations.
  • Experience leading projects, managing budgets, working with contractors and supporting technical teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and leadership skills.

Qualifications and experience

  • Previous experience in facilities management, utility operations or a related field.
  • Engineering, facilities management or related qualification preferred.
  • Project management and electrical safety certification would be preferred.
