We are currently seeking a Principal Hardware Engineer who will be responsible for leading hardware engineering across safety critical projects. Taking technical ownership and guiding delivery whilst ensuring quality, safety and customer satisfaction.
You’ll mentor and develop engineers, champion best practice and continuous improvement, and work within ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards and relevant legislation.
As Lead Hardware engineer you will be involved in:
- Own technical delivery across multiple hardware/safety-critical projects (scope, schedule, budget, quality).
- Lead and develop engineers: coaching, performance, standards and best practice.
- Manage contract delivery: risk/opportunity reporting, stakeholder communication and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001/14001/45001) and relevant legislation.
- Support bids/tenders and provide technical input to Sales, estimating and on-site teams.
- Translate client requirements into robust, compliant engineering solutions.
What you will bring:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Hardware development experience with proven team/project leadership and successful system delivery.
- Experience delivering functional safety systems for the Defence/nuclear industry (or similar regulated, safety-critical environment).
- Strong understanding of systems integration and cyber security in regulated environments.
- Comfortable working to ISO 9001/14001/45001 standards and driving continuous improvement.
- Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.
- You will need to be eligible for MOD security clearance.
