We are currently recruiting for two experienced Gate Automation Engineers to join a specialist field engineering team supporting contracts across the UK. These are mobile roles covering the installation, service, maintenance, and commissioning of automated gate systems across commercial and industrial sites. One engineer will ideally be based around Reading / Surrey, and the second within Sussex / Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers who are confident working independently on customer sites, delivering high-quality technical work, and representing the business professionally in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation, servicing, maintenance, and commissioning of automated gate systems
- Electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis and repair
- Testing, inspection, and commissioning of systems on site
- Completion of engineering reports, documentation, and site records
- Asset tagging and system registration
- Ordering of parts and equipment where required
- Liaising with clients and site representatives
- Ensuring compliance with RAMS, safety procedures, and industry standards
- Reporting defects, incidents, and health & safety concerns
- Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota
- Occasional UK travel depending on project requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience in gate automation or similar electro-mechanical engineering role
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability
- Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple sites
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience producing accurate engineering documentation and reports
- Customer-facing experience with good communication skills
- Willingness to travel and occasionally stay away from home
- Basic IT literacy for reporting and system use
Package
- Salary £40,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience)
- Paid overtime
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- 5% employer pension contribution
- Company van and fuel card provided
- Call-out rota with additional earnings potential
These are primarily regional roles within the South East, however due to the nature of country wide contracts, there may occasionally be a requirement to travel further afield to support project delivery. In the longer term, the positions will become fully regionally focused, providing engineers with a stable localised patch once contract structures are fully established.
