The Opportunity
MoveATech is recruiting on behalf of a leading precision engineering manufacturer based in Portsmouth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Control Technician / Quality Inspector to join a business producing high-quality, precision-machined components assembled into world-class products.
This role would suit someone with experience inspecting CNC machined parts, or an Inspector looking to take the next step in a technically challenging and rewarding environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out dimensional inspections on both subcontracted and in-house manufactured components within the machine shop. Working from engineering drawings, you’ll use a range of inspection and measuring equipment and work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect CNC machined components to engineering drawings and specifications
- Dimensional inspection of in-house and subcontracted parts
- Use of hand measuring equipment and inspection tools
- Interpretation of engineering drawings
- Liaise with production, engineering, customers, and suppliers to resolve quality issues
- Investigate and troubleshoot product and process issues
- Review NCR data, specifications, and quality processes
- Support corrective actions, solutions, and continuous improvements
- Maintain quality documentation and databases
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience inspecting CNC machined components
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings
- CMM experience advantageous (Mitutoyo MCOSMOS – basic programming)
- Experience developing and implementing quality standards and control systems
- Knowledge of quality performance monitoring (Six Sigma / SPC)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Competent using Microsoft Office
- A proactive, ambitious team player
