A fast-growing, sustainability-focused technology company is looking for a Lead Electrical Design & Control Systems Engineer to take ownership of the electrical and control systems across their range of innovative, in-house developed systems. The Role
You’ll lead the design, development, and delivery of electrical and control systems used in complex electro-mechanical products that serve industrial customers across the UK and Europe. The systems are programmed using Schneider-based PLCs, and you’ll play a key role in both supporting live deployments and driving future design innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for electrical design and control systems development
- Design hardware for automated systems including cabinet layouts, safety, compliance calculations, and 2D drawings
- Develop and maintain PLC code and associated control systems (CODESYS, Ladder, FBD, ST)
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate control logic into system builds
- Troubleshoot and resolve on-site system issues as needed (UK and Europe travel required occasionally)
- Work with suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Ensure adherence to relevant safety regulations and compliance standards
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, risk assessments, and validation plans
Your Profile
- Degree, HND or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline
- Strong experience in electrical hardware design for industrial machinery (Control panel and cabinet build)
- Proficient in PLC programming, specifically using CODESYS and Schneider Machine Expert
- Familiar with EU/UK machinery safety and electrical equipment regulations
- Excellent communicator with a hands-on, collaborative approach
- Able to interpret P&IDs and produce clear documentation and reports
- 2D Electrical Design experience - ideally Solidworks
