PLC Commissioning Engineer in Bedford

We are supporting our client, a UK leader in automated logistics solutions, in the search for experienced PLC Commissioning Engineers to support a range of upcoming projects across the Midlands and Northern England. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile, cutting-edge logistics systems using Siemens TIA Portal, on a contract basis outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

• Commissioning of fully automated logistics systems (e.g. conveyor technology, material handling)
• Configure, test, and validate Siemens PLC software (TIA Portal) to meet project requirements
• Travel to UK customer sites to support commissioning activities (occasional overseas travel may be required)
• Ensure systems are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with defined quality standards
• Provide customer support and training during system ramp-up phases
• Independently manage the preparation, execution, and close-out of commissioning tasks
• Work collaboratively with wider teams to ensure smooth handover to downstream departments

Requirements:

• Strong experience in PLC programming and commissioning, ideally with a focus on Siemens TIA Portal
• Background in electrical engineering, automation, or mechatronics
• Previous experience working on automated material handling or logistics systems is highly desirable
• Flexibility to travel across the UK for site-based work
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver under tight timelines
• Excellent customer-facing communication skills
• Must have the right to work in the UK
