Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for operational excellence and people management? Enviro NZ is on the lookout for an experienced Operations Manager to take the helm of our South Canterbury commercial collections team, overseeing operations in Timaru, Mackenzie, and Waimate.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you\’ll manage the day-to-day operations of our FEL, mini-huka, and REL collection fleet. You\’ll also lead a diverse team, ensure operational compliance, and support Enviro NZ\’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and outstanding service — including working closely with key customers such as Fonterra Clandeboye.

What you\’ll do:

  • Oversee the daily operations of collections, bin deliveries, repairs and site activity.
  • Lead, coach and support operational staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant performance.
  • Manage vehicle fleet availability, maintenance, and compliance (COFs, RUCs, NZTA regulations).
  • Monitor and report on health & safety, environmental compliance, and operational performance.
  • Drive operational improvements while maintaining cost controls and service standards.
  • Support customers directly and collaborate with councils and local authorities

What we\’re looking for:

  • Proven leadership experience in managing teams and complex operational logistics (minimum 3+ years).
  • Clean Class 4 licence or above
  • Background in transport, logistics, or waste industry preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen and working knowledge of accounting/reporting.
  • Confidence with systems such as Eroad, D365, and Kronos (or ability to learn quickly).
  • A strong understanding of H&S, environmental standards and NZTA compliance.
