Position Overview:
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of the academic program of EFL students
- Reports to Director of Studies/Assistant Director of Studies
- 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday)
- Non-Residential employment: no meals or accommodation
- Teaching will deliver high-quality and communicative EFL Task Based lessons as part of a teaching team
- Promoting the welfare of students and adhere to the MLA Safeguarding Policy
- Working hours are variable and will be organised according to a rota in the centre
Requirements:
- Essential:
- Must have a UK passport/right to work in the UK, and a valid DBS (England & Wales) or PVG (Scotland)
- Proven suitability to work with students under 18: at least 2 references
- CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL qualification, or a PGCE/QTS award related to YL/ESOL/English/Languages (or equivalent Ofqual recognised standards)
- A Level 6 degree or equivalent qualifications/experience
- Experience of Teaching EFL Classes (including teaching practice)
- DELTA / Trinity DipTESOL / MA TESOL completed or in progress
- EFL experience teaching teenagers
- EFL Summer School Teaching experience in the UK
- Enhanced DBS/PVG registered on the Update Service
Person Specification:
- Ability to develop positive relationships with students
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal)
- Self-motivated and passionate about teaching
- Ability to maintain organisation of classes, students, and curriculum
- Ability to work under pressure
Schedule: Non-Residential contracts are based on a minimum of 10 up to 36 working hours over a 7-day session including at least one full day off per week.
Key Position Accountabilities:
- Prepare your lessons with the aid of pre-made lesson plans and adapt them to your class composition
- Liaise with your co-teacher(s)
- Teach EFL lessons at a range of levels indicated by the DoS
- Inspire and motivate students to improve their learning skills
- Differentiate student learning and scaffold learning to cater for mixed ability classes
Compensation: Non-Residential staff can earn up to GBP 673 per week (plus 12.07% holiday pay). Hourly rate GBP 15 to GBP 16 plus 15% to 17% to cover administrative duties based on qualifications and experience.
